New Ottawa–Montreal Service Coming to Greater Sudbury Airport: Propair to Launch New Business-Focused Service from Sudbury
Issued: October 2, 2025
Sudbury, ON – A new air service is taking off from Greater Sudbury Airport this fall, providing convenient service to Ottawa and Montreal, starting October 27, 2025. The service will be operated by Propair, a Quebec-based regional carrier with over 70 years of aviation experience across northern and central Canada. Reservations are now open at propair.ca.
Flights will depart from the main terminal building at Greater Sudbury Airport before travelling directly to Ottawa (YOW) and continuing onward to Montreal (YUL). From Montreal, passengers will have a seamless connection to Quebec City (YQB), creating a smooth and efficient journey to three of Canada’s most important hubs for government, commerce, and culture.
With early morning departures from Sudbury and evening return flights, travellers will have the flexibility to conduct business in Ottawa, Montreal, or Quebec City and return home the very same day, an increasingly rare advantage for remote regions.
“Expanding the connection between Quebec and these key Ontario cities is intended to support Sudbury businesses in their travel, business relations, and service offerings within these dynamic economic centres. This new route represents a strategic opportunity for the region’s economic stakeholders,” said Justin Lemieux, Chief Executive Officer of Propair.
The new Ottawa and Montreal service represents a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity and providing Greater Sudbury’s business community with quick and convenient travel options, while filling a void in early morning departures and evening arrivals into Sudbury. At the same time, it creates a new gateway for companies and professionals from major metropolitan areas to reach Sudbury, making the region more accessible and attractive for business opportunities.
“Ottawa and Montreal are two of the most highly requested destinations for our community, and we are thrilled to see Propair respond to this demand,” said Giovanna Verrilli, CEO of Greater Sudbury Airport. “This service offers our passengers a modern, business-focused travel experience, while strengthening Sudbury’s connections to two of Canada’s most important hubs for government, commerce, and culture.”
Unlike traditional airline operations, this new commercial air service will arrive and depart from Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminals in Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City, providing a business-travel style experience with faster boarding, streamlined arrivals, and a more personalized level of service – an attractive option for travellers seeking efficiency and convenience.
Propair will operate the route using its modern Beechcraft 1900 aircraft, seating 18 passengers in a comfortable and efficient configuration designed with business travellers in mind. To deliver a seamless travel experience, passengers can enjoy breakfast served on board in the morning, and unwind in the evening with snacks and a selection of beer offered by Propair.
