Discover Sudbury
With its world-renowned attractions, urban comforts and four-season outdoor adventures, Greater Sudbury continues to surprise and impress. We invite you to discover for yourself why Greater Sudbury is becoming one of Ontario’s popular go-to destinations.
Our Cultural Mosaic
Sudbury boasts a diverse and dynamic population, enriched by a blend of cultural influences. As the third largest French-speaking community in Canada outside Québec, Franco-Ontarian culture plays a significant role in the city’s identity. The city is also home to a thriving Indigenous population, particularly the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, whose deep-rooted traditions and connection to the land are integral to Sudbury’s heritage. Add to that a complex ethnic mosaic representing every region of the world and it is easy to see why our diversity is such a celebrated characteristic. This diversity is embodied by the city’s Bridge of Nations, a highly prominent landmark in the city’s downtown which features nearly 100 flags representing countries and nations that make up the diverse heritage and culture of our community.
The de facto capital of the North
Greater Sudbury is home to Canada’s second and eighth largest science centres – Science North and Dynamic Earth respectively – and Cinéfest Sudbury, the country’s fourth largest film festival. Our city attracts more than one million visitors each year who spend upwards of $200 million in our community on food, accommodations, attractions, and shopping.
Our 330 lakes and hundreds of kilometers of trails offer incredible opportunities to create lasting family memories. While in Sudbury, you can discover our several exquisite golf courses that range in size and challenge, all with something extraordinary to offer as they harness the beauty of our local landscape.
Taste of Place
Greater Sudbury boasts a vibrant and diverse culinary scene, reflecting its rich cultural tapestry and commitment to local ingredients. The city’s restaurants cater to a wide array of tastes and preferences, from traditional Italian cuisine to innovative vegan dishes. Diners seeking plant-based options will find creative and flavorful offerings, while those with a taste for local heritage can enjoy classic Canadian dishes paired with regional drinks.
The city also features a mix of global cuisines, including Indian, Thai, Japanese, and Middle Eastern, ensuring that every palate is satisfied.
Some of our city’s restaurants belong to SHARE – an organization of restaurants who band together and raise money for good causes throughout the year. Learn more about SHARE and their member restaurants.
