MPs Serré and Lefebvre announce $261,901 in funding for the Greater Sudbury Airport

(Sudbury, ON) – MPs Marc Serré and Paul Lefebvre, on behalf of the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today announced $261,901 in funding for the Greater Sudbury Airport to make important safety improvements.
This year, the Greater Sudbury Airport will receive $261,901 through the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) for the investment in a project to replace apron flood lighting and upgrade constant current regulators at the Greater Sudbury Airport. The constant current regulator panels supply power and control all airfield signs, navigation aids and airfield lighting.
“The Greater Sudbury Airport is a vital link for residents and businesses in this region. This project will help ensure continued safe airport operation for passengers, flight crews, employees, and medical evacuation and forest fire fighting activities, while contributing to the community’s economic and social well-being” Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt.
“We are extremely pleased and appreciative of the ongoing financial support provided under Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program,” said Todd Tripp, CEO Greater Sudbury Airport. “The generous contribution of $261,901 will enable the airport to meet safety requirements and ensure we can provide a safe airport experience for all passengers, travellers, staff and airport community.” “The safety of passengers and employees at our airports is paramount importance to our government, and these investments will ensure the Greater Sudbury Airport will continue to operate safely and efficiently as a vital regional transportation link for residents and businesses.” Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury.
