The Greater Sudbury Airport Hosts a Special Ceremony

GREATER SUDBURY, December 3, 2015 – A special milestone was celebrated at the Greater Sudbury Airport this morning with Hope air, Porter Airlines and special guests. The community was pleased to learn that Hope Air has reached the significant milestone of 100,000 flights that help Canadians in financial need obtain necessary medical expertise outside their home communities by providing fee air transportation.

“We recognize the significance of this remarkable achievement and the positive impact this service has had on the lives of our most vulnerable Canadian citizens requiring access to quality health care,” said Bob Johnston, Chief Executive Office for the Greater Sudbury Airport.

Special guests included representatives from Hope Air, Porter Airlines, Vale Ontario Division and Joanne and Richard Giroux.

The Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation that manages the Greater Sudbury Airport (YSB). The Greater Sudbury Airport is one of Northern Ontario’s busiest and is currently served by Air Canada, Bearskin Airlines, Porter Airlines, WestJet and Sunwing Airlines. Air Canada and WestJet offer daily flights to and from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, which provide worldwide connections, while Porter Airlines offers daily service to and from downtown’s Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, which connects passengers to various Canadian and U.S. destinations. Regular scheduled flights provided by Bearskin Airlines offer air service to and from many Northeastern Ontario centres. Sunwing Airlines offers flights from Greater Sudbury to various sun destinations from November to April.
